Linear Bathroom Design
This master bath links the bedroom to a walk-in closet. The designer used the narrow shape to his advantage, relegating the tub, shower, and toilet to one side of the room and the vanity to the other. Sleek cabinets and subdued colors honor the home's midcentury modern roots while instilling an air of serenity.
Floating Vanity in a Small Bath
A floating vanity creates the illusion of space in this small bathroom. Cabinets perched on tall metal legs below the vanity enhance the open feel. A support post, which couldn't be removed, was tied into the room with tile that matches the countertop. Windows high on the wall allow light into the small room while protecting privacy.
Colorful Contemporary Bath
Aniline dyes contribute vibrant colors to the vanity's sycamore veneer. The tub features a dyed-concrete surround that matches the vanity countertop. Note how the shower is angled into the corner of the bathroom and enclosed with glass to keep sight lines open. Angular lines on polished chrome hardware and fixtures complement the modern feel.
Modern Bathroom Texture
Custom cabinetry is veneered with Japanese sen, a light-color wood with a very subtle grain that lends itself to contemporary designs. The space between the cabinets and mirrors is fitted with narrow, open storage to accommodate small accessories and towels. The corrugated-metal rolling hampers are a clever use of undercounter space and add texture to the room. Frosted-glass vessel sinks enhance the modern feel.
